As reported in the New York times there appears to be a historical pattern of total returns (dividends and gains) in the stock market. Is the historical pattern about to repeat itself?
Anecdotally there is a lot of money on the sidelines obtaining small yields. Will a market upturn start a reocurrence of the historical trend?
It is always dangerous to assume historical patterns will repeat themselves. But perhaps the glass is really half full and not half empty!
